ZOE HUMANITARIAN SIGNS MAMA ZIMBI AND DONATES TO YILO KROBO AND BLIND SCHOOLS


Zoe Humanitarian Projects, a non profit organisation was established with the aim of empowering children and the youth as a whole with greater focus on those that are disadvantaged.  The organisation seeks to promote equity and improve lives through social interventions. Their core mandate is rooted in areas of education and health.

The Zoe Humanitarian Projects idea was conceived when Zoe, an Afro-Italian girl, was born. This blessing received marked the beginning of giving back to children in Ghana a dose of the blessing of Zoe, delight to many.

The organization seeks to support children between the ages of 1 and 6 through its interest areas - education, health and empowerment.

As it is done each year by the team, this year will be no different with greater focus on education where a Yilo Krobo school and the Akwapim School for the Blind are to receive items to mark the 3rd birthday of Little Zoe.

"As luck would have it, we are blessed to have on board Akumaa Mama Zimbi, a well-known public Figure as part of our team this year", this was announced by Ms Loretta Asante the Director of Zoe Humanitarian Projects.



Touching further on the donations, Ms Asante disclosed that an amount of GHC45000 would be used in renovating the Klo-Akwapim R/C Basic School and it is expected to be unveiled by an individual whose appointment to join the team would be announced later in December.

Lastly, a party was held for the children at the Akropong School for the Blind whilst donating food and study materials.

Organisations Must Take Advantage of Technology ~ Copyright Admin. Yaa Atefuah Tells FIPAG

The copyright administrator, Madam Yaa Atefuah, has advised Film producers and content creators to take advantage of the phenomenon change that has taken the world by storm.

She was addressing the newly elected executives of the Film Producers Association of Ghana "FIPAG" when the James Aboagye led administration paid a courtesy call on her in her office.

Madam Atefuah, who's been in the helm of affairs and revered for her position on the collection right society for years told them (FIPAG) to embrace the new technology to monetize their contents online to generate revenue for them.

"Technology has changed things so organisations must take advantage of the rapid change", she said.

"Gone are the days where producers rely solely on CD sales, now, technology has changed the system so "we" must also think of monetizing our contents on digital platforms to generate some monies for us," she added.

On piracy, she said, "the phenomenon is worldwide (happens everywhere) and it's very difficult to combat it especially in the technological (social media) era, so content owners must help the copyright office to fight it."

Aunty Yaa as she's affectionately called, furthermore, advised them to serve those who(FIPAG) voted them into power.

Idikoko Hands Over FIPAG to James Aboagye


Mr. Augustine Abbey "Idikoko" has officially handed over power "Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG)" to the newly sworn in executives led by Mr. James Aboagye.

The ceremony was held at the FIPAG office at the Musicians Union of Ghana MUSIGA Head Office in Osu, Accra on Tuesday 10th September, 2019.

Announcing the process, Idikoko, the immediate past president, reviewed activities of his administration from 1st September, 2016 to 14th August, 2019.

Mr. Abbey took them through the books; changing of FIPAG account signatories, membership registration and the two major offices in Accra and Kumasi, relocating from the old musiga office to a new one to make way for the government's Marine Drive Project.

He further called on the new executives to hold the office in high esteem and work hard to protect the association's image in government and other foreign embassies.

"FIPAG is well established entity that is captured in government's documents (Film Act) that is the only recognized film producers association so I'll plead with you to protect that image".

"We have connections with embassies in Ghana so if you use our letterhead to apply for Visa for  any FIPAG member in good standing he or she won't be refused so do not abuse that opportunity", he added.

Mr. Abbey advised them to continue the membership drive in other regions aside the well established ones, i.e Ashanti, Greater Accra, Northern and Upper East regions.

"In the quest for the membership drive a visit was made to the Volta at the Catering Guest house and held a meeting with the film producers  to bring them on board.

"My regrets if I'm asked is the welfare challenges. List of deductions for welfare will be handed over to FIPAG for new executives" he concluded.

Mr. James Aboagye in his acceptance, sworn to work with affiliate institutions and seek the well being of movie producers in Ghana.

Film Village: Sekyere Chief Donates 300 Acres of Land To FIPAG



The chief of Sekyere in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Osei Kwabena Onin Pobi II and Queen Nana Yaa Antwiwaa II and the Sekyereman, have donated a 300 acre land to the Film industry and the Government to use for the construction of the proposed Film Village.

Nana Pobi II addressing the press when the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) paid a courtesy call on him said he saw a television news item which some movie producers petitioned parliament on the film villagepr brouhaha

"I saw a news item on TV when a petition was presented to the parliament of Ghana on the siting of the project, and I was moved by the plight of the filmmakers".

"I immediately consulted the queen  who did not object but agreed with me", he added.

After further consultations with other elders, the Sekyere Benkumhemaa made contacts with Mr Christopher Dadzie (Big J), an Executive Member of the FIPAG.

Mr Dadzie immediately called on Nana Pobi II at his palace and on his return informed the FIPAG President, Mr James Aboagye, of the good news.

Mr. Aboagye with his team formally called on Nana Pobi II at his palace to meet the leadership of town.

On behalf of the filmmakers and industry, the president who could not hide his joy for Nana's gesture thanked Nana and his elders.

"On behalf of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Stakeholders and the Media, I'll like to say the film the film industry will forever be grateful to Nana Osei Kwabena Onin Pobi II, Nana Yaa Antwiwaa II, the elders, committee members and the Sekyereman for your kind gesture".

Nana Pobi II also presented a copy of a proposal to donate the land for the project to be submitted to government through the Creative Arts Ministry to Mr James Aboagye.





A part of the land falls within the popular Atwea Mountain enclave.

There are several caves and other interesting  land forms found in the Sedimentary rock that forms the mountain.

The land in addition to the film village could potentially become a tourist attraction if harnessed and developed.

FIPAG Lauds Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah

The Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) has expressed it's profound gratitude to the Ashanti Regional Minister for his presence at the just ended elections and swearing in at the Cultural Center (Quashie Idan Hall), Kumasi, the Regional Capital. 

In an interview with seancitygh.com, the president, Mr. James Aboagye, praised the Minister for his time and dedication towards the growth of the industry. 

"I'll like to seize this opportunity to say thank the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah for his presence at the FIPAG elections which brought my administration into power", he said. 

He furthermore, promised to join hands with the Ministry, the Regional Coordinating Council and other stakeholders as said by Mr. Osei-Mensah in his speech to help revamp and grow the industry. 

"My administration will join hands with the Ministry, Regional Coordinating Council and other stakeholders to revamp and move the film industry forward". 

"I do agree with the Minister in his speech that, development of this industry will only happen when we all work together towards putting together the Legislative Instrument that will operationalize the film act enacted by the parliament of Ghana in 2016. The process leading to the composition of the Film Authority 
which will help regulate the film industry has also been commenced,"
he added. 

Mr. Aboagye pleaded with his members to support them and promised to pay a courtesy call on the Regional Minister to officially introduce the new administration to him.

Kwaw Kese Is Finally Free @KwawKese

After months of a seemingly never-ending narcotic story of Ghanaian rapper Kwaw Kese known in private life as Emmanuel Botchwey, is finally over as he was released from prison, Friday. 

Kwaw, who was arrested on 22nd November, 2014 for allegedly smoking a substance suspected to be cannabis in a public place, Thursday pleaded guilty. 

He was fined GHC1,200 and sentenced to a day in prison.

Court Grants Baffour Gyan And Anim Addo Bail Of GHȻ30,000 With Two Sureties

Baffour Gyan and Samuel Anim Addo, brother and personal manager of the Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, have been granted bail by a Kumasi circuit court after they were arraigned on Monday on charges of assault. They were charged on two counts of assault of a regional correspondent of the Daily Graphic, Daniel Kenu at the Baba Yara stadium.

They pleaded not guilty and the court presided over by Mr William Boampong admitted them to bail in the sum of GHȻ30,000 with two sureties. The case was adjourned to Friday September 12, 2014.

Bizzare: Catholic Priest Commits Suicide

Reverend Father Kelvin Abakisi, a 31-year old Catholic Priest and a tutor at the Saint Victors Major Seminary at Malshegu in the Tamale Metropolis has allegedly committed suicide.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh, Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command told the Ghana News Agency in Tamale on Monday.

ASP Tetteh said the deceased allegedly committed the suicide on Saturday, August 23 about 19:00 GMT explaining that one Rev. Father Suom Dery also of the Saint Victors Major Seminary visited the bungalow of the deceased and found him hanging on the ceiling of his sitting room.

Former DCE For Ahafo Ano South Reinstated

Reports indicate that the former District Chief Executive(DCE) for Ahafo Ano South in the Ashanti region, Gabriel Boamah has been reinstated.
Gabriel Braimah was dimissed by the Local Government Minister after he angrily chided health workers in his district for a comment made by an unidentified person.
Mr. Boamah after telling the workers off stormed out of durbar which was attended by some chiefs in the area.

Police Inspector Remanded In Prison Custody For Stealing Electric Cables

The Police Officer stationed at Gomoa Nyanyano who was recently arrested for allegedly stealing electric cables was last Wednesday remanded in prison custody by the Agona Swedru Circuit Court.

The accused, Inspector (Insp) Emmanuel Kojo Ametepey, was charged together with one Abdullai Tijani, and another person whose name was only given as Francis   as well as four others who are all on the run.
Insp Ametepey was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and stealing but pleaded not guilty to both counts.
He was subsequently remanded in prison custody to reappear in court on September 10, 2014.

NPP Press Conference Turns Bloody

A press conference by the national executives of Ghana’s main opposition, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) turned bloody on Tuesday when some angry party youth stormed the headquarters with machetes.

Some supporters of the party who were present sustained various degrees of injuries while a vehicle belonging to the national women’s organizer, Otiko Djaba was vandalized.

Citi News’ Richard Dela Sky who was at the party’s headquarters where the press conference was held reported that the angry youth stormed the premises with knives and pistols which “resulted in a free for all fight.”

Sky described the situation as “very disturbing and a never-before-seen development here at the NPP headquarters.”
