Bizzare: Catholic Priest Commits Suicide

Reverend Father Kelvin Abakisi, a 31-year old Catholic Priest and a tutor at the Saint Victors Major Seminary at Malshegu in the Tamale Metropolis has allegedly committed suicide.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh, Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command told the Ghana News Agency in Tamale on Monday.

ASP Tetteh said the deceased allegedly committed the suicide on Saturday, August 23 about 19:00 GMT explaining that one Rev. Father Suom Dery also of the Saint Victors Major Seminary visited the bungalow of the deceased and found him hanging on the ceiling of his sitting room.

Student Hangs Herself Over Unpaid School Fees

A second-year day student of the Agona Swedru School of Business (SWESBU), Miss Lvy Owusu was on Monday found handing in an uncompleted building at Agona Swedru.

A Police spokesman pleading anonymity who made this known to newsmen at Agona Swedru on Tuesday, said the mother of the girl, Madam Ekua Amoafowah told them that the girl did not go to school on Monday because she owed school fees.

The policeman said the woman claimed that she asked her daughter in the morning to go to school with the promise of looking for a loan to settle the school fees of 190 Ghana Cedis, after which she left for market.

Tragedy struck the Kpeyiborme community, near Kpeve in the Peki District, last Friday when a 37-year-old farmer brutally murdered his three-year-old son.

The suspect, Gideon Abotsi, aka Jarah, allegedly severed the head of his son, Sitsofe Abotsi, with a machete on a piece of wood to protest his wife’s decision not to have sex with him again.

Abotsi is currently in the custody of the Peki-Avetile Police, who are conducting investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, members of the farming community are still in a state of shock over the conduct of the suspect and wondering what could have come over the man, whom some described as reserved and calm and who lived peacefully with his wife, Sena Ahiable, and their children.

38-year-old Bola Fagbemi was caught at her home in the Alagbado area of the state in possession of a day-old baby’s corpse. 22-year-old Nicole ‘Nikki’ Kelly, from Queens, New York, has been charged with the second degree murder after she allegedly suffocated her 11-month-old son, Kiam Felix, Jr.

‘I reached my breaking point, I didn’t want him anymore,’ she apparently told police.

Afterwards, she reportedly posted a photograph of her son’s corpse on her Facebook page, with the message ‘R.I.P Tinkabutt’.

Kiam was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital on Sunday after being taken there by Kelly and the father, who lives separately.

Police said that Kelly, a former Home Health Aide, killed Kiam by wrapping him in a bed sheet, leaving him unable to breathe, according to Pix11.com.
