Andrés Iniesta has been voted the winner of the 2011/12 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award, the FC Barcelona and Spain midfielder finishing ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Andrés Iniesta has been voted the 2011/12 winner of the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award in Monaco.

The FC Barcelona midfielder, who helped Spain defend their UEFA European Championship title this summer, finished ahead of club-mate Lionel Messi, last year's inaugural winner, and Real Madrid CF's Cristiano Ronaldo in a poll of sports journalists representing each of UEFA's member national associations.

A concert featuring superstar rapper DMX has been canceled at the urging of police in New England, over concerns of violence.

DMX was supposed to hit the stage at Whites of Westport on September 7, but a number of incidents in the area moved police to urge Whites, as well as the local promoter Hurricane Promotions, to cancel the concert.
“This cancellation is very unfortunate. DMX loves to perform for his his fans and hates to have to reschedule his shows. However, we are still taking bookings and are hoping to create a national tour this Fall,” Domenick Nati, of Nati Celebrity Services told the source.

Two persons narrowly escaped being lynched by a mob in Nkerefi, Nkanu East LGA in Enugu State, on Tuesday for killing vultures.

According to Ebere Amaraizu, the state’s police spokesperson, the mob descended on the two men, Wale Alabi and Polycarp Onyia, for allegedly using a poisoned substance to kill 23 vultures living in a shrine in Eke Nkerefi.

Popular Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has revealed that the sudden end to her smoking addiction came through the prayers of Pastor T.B. Joshua via his Christian station Emmanuel TV.

Dikeh, who rose to fame after becoming the runner up in the Nigerian reality show, ‘The Next Movie Star’ in 2006, has garnered a controversial reputation in Nollywood for being a heavy smoker.

A Hollywood director Tony Scott has died, after jumpin to his death on Sunday, August 19, 2012 off a Los Angeles bridge.

According to the Coroner, Scott, a 68-year-old younger brother of a popular movie director, ‘Ridley Scott‘ jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island around 12:30pm.
