Nicki Minaj Describes Near-Death Experience In BET Awards Speech @NICKIMINAJ

Nicki Minaj told the crowd at the BET Awards that she was close to death recently -- an experience that has helped her be herself.

The rapper rambled onstage when accepting her fifth consecutive win for best female hip-hop artist, where she thanked Lil Wayne for his support, talked about writing her own lyrics and about getting the credit she deserves in the industry.

"The other day, literally I didn't tell anybody this, I really thought I was about to die. Like, I was saying my prayers to die. And I didn't even want to call the ambulance because I thought, `Well if I call the ambulance, it's going to be on TMZ,"' she said, as some of the audience laughed.

"And I would rather sit there and die," she added, looking to the crowd. "And it made me realize I don't care what anybody got to say. I'm going to do me."

Kendrick Lamar has been the topic of discussion as of late, having his name tossed out by Lupe Fiasco, Troy Ave and Mac Miller. In a sit-down with Hot 97, Lupe weighed in on who he considers the most lyrical in the game right now.

“Listen, Kendrick is ill. He’s super ill. To me, the whole TDE team is the illest team. They’re the illest team that I’ve seen in maybe 5 years,” Fiasco said. “Lyrically, no, I don’t think [Kendrick Lamar is the best].”

The Chicago-bred lyricist listed King Los and Logic as upcoming rappers he finds to outrank the TDE rep when it comes to rhymes. “Everybody entitled to their opinion, I just continue to do what I do,” K. Dot said in an interview with Nessa from Wild 94.9.

Boko Haram Kills Farmers In Adamawa

About five farmers were yesterday killed  by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents in Madagali local government area of Adamawa State.

The attack came less than 24 hours after members of the group launched similar attack on a military base in Madagali, killing one soldier and civilians.

Reports said that suspected members of the sect yesterday morning went berserk killing scores of farmers as hundreds fled to neighbouring Cameroun.

Residents of the farming village of Kubla and Chakawa said the latest attack on farmers is believed to be an attempt to scare farmers from farming this season as the insurgents sent threat letters warning farmers against farming this season. The farmers said such attacks have recently become frequent due to a total lack of security presence in border communities of Adamawa and Borno.

The nominations for the 85th Annual Academy Awards were announced Thursday morning by this year's host Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone.

The Oscar ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013.

As in recent years, the ceremony will take place at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. In the United States, the Oscarcast will be presented live by the ABC Television Network. The cow owner said that he heard his cow mowing wildly and on checking he found the man mounting on his cow. The man had tied the cow’s legs very tight to ensure it does not move.

The owner raised an alarm as he fought to contain the man and residents who arrived at the scene of the incident were shocked to find the naked man and the badly tied and injured cow.

Veteran Nollywood actor, Enebeli Elebuwa, has died in an Indian hospital.

Elebuwa, who died on Tuesday night, had been battling the effects of a stroke for sometime and undergone treatment at some hospitals in Nigeria before being moved abroad.

The illness had kept him bedridden for sometime.

Elebuwa was well known for the role he played as Andrew in a campaign by the Federal Government in the 80s to discourage Nigerians from fleeing the country.
