Sarkodie
As legendary music producer Hammer once said, “Sarkodie has grown from a talented artiste to a superior artiste”, it is with no doubt that the brand Sarkodie is the biggest in the world of hiplife music in Ghana. At the fourth edition of Ghana meets Naija concert at the Accra international Conference Center, the BET award-winner was undoubtedly the best act on the night. During Sarkodie’s performance, something strange happened which will remain in the minds of Ghanaians forever. Benedicta Ofosu, a fan of the rapper who could not control her emotions jumped out of her seat and run to lie under Sarkodie’s feet weeping aloud like a baby and begging the two times artiste of the year to touch her. This feat by the lady made the  multifaceted rapper cry on stage after he lifted and embraced her.

Ghana coach impressed by Black Stars' intensity in training

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says he has been impressed by the output of players in training sessions at his camp in Arnhem.
The Black Stars have held four training sessions since arriving in the Netherlands on Sunday morning to intensify their preparations for the 2014 World Cup.
The team moved to the European country having completed a four-day non-residential training program in Accra.
The training program in the Ghanaian capital was climaxed by an impressive performance in the Black Stars’ 6-1 win over a locally select side in an exhibition match last Friday.
The team is preparing now in the city of Arnhem ahead of another friendly match against the Netherlands in Rotterdam on Sunday.

Ghana Banks World Cup dream On Waris @majeedwaris

Abdul Majeed Waris
If you ever needed any measure of the importance of Abdul Majeed Warris to Ghana’s world cup campaign in Brazil, then it came during the first day of training by the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The forward went down under a challenge from goalkeeper Fatau Dauda and within seconds the lively atmosphere inside the grounds had turned numb and quiet. Is he injured? "Hope it its not serious" were some of the key concerns. The Black Stars medical staff was quickly on the scene and all eyes, previously fixated on the training involving fourteen Black Stars players turned to the spot where they were attending to him.
Waris is not in danger of missing the tournament but the fact that he went down to such general  anxiety speaks volumes of how he has developed into one of the most important players for Ghana after he had been snubbed by coach Kwesi Appiah for the 2013 Nations Cup.
Waris himself says it is down to biding his time and taking his chance well when it came against Sudan after the Nations Cup.

AU Day observed in Accra

African Union (AU) Day has been observed in Ghana, with a call on African leaders to reflect on the challenges confronting the continent and chart an effective path towards resolving them.
Apart from the day being observed as a public holiday, there was no official event to commemorate the occasion, compelling some Ghanaians to ask African leaders to involve the people in the affairs of the AU.
Some of the people said the AU was known to the leaders who gathered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, regularly to toast champagne and discuss issues of very little relevance to the people.
Another school of thought said although the AU, formerly the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), did not look at bread and butter issues, it helped to accelerate the liberation struggle.
“Today, almost all countries in Africa are free, except the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic,” one commentator argued.
