A bomb has exploded at a shopping centre in Abuja

About 9pm Nigerian time, officers of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) received an alert over a suspected explosion at a shopping mall in Abuja in Wuse II, Abuja. The officers of Search and Rescue and other response agencies are now at the scene and have cordoned the area along Park & Shop and Banex Plaza.

Eye witnesses say a car bomb has exploded at Park and Shop in Wuse II, Abuja. The FCT police commissioner is there at the moment, as the police put up barricades around the area. No one is allowed to take pictures at the moment.


So far no human casualty has been reported. The Director General of NEMA has found it necessary to also warn ordinary citizens to be wary of going to scene of bomb explosion for the fear of secondary explosion and to alllow emergency responders to have access to the scene. There are various risks and hazards of such exposure.
