Sir Elton John, was on Thursday, May 24, 2012, discharged from the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, where he has been receiving medication for his respiratory infection.

The 65-year-old singer-composer, was diagnosed with a respiratory infection and placed on antibiotics, and warned against stressful activities.

We gather this has now led to the cancellation of several proposed tours, including four concerts set for Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas.

Ghana’s fastest rapper and 2012 Artiste of the Year, Sarkodie has said he is certain of being the first Ghanaian musician to win a BET award.

The talented musician has been nominated alongside other African artistes for this year’s Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

First nomination session in the Big Brother STARGAME took place this morning in the Upville and at the end, Ghana’s DKB, Mampi from Zambia and Maneta from Zimbabwe came up for eviction. 


However, according to Big Brother rules the Head of House is supposed to save one of the housemates up for possible eviction and replace with another. 


Nominated DKB who had the advantage of being Head of House saved himself from nomination and replaced himself with interesting Lady May from Namibia. In effect, Mampi, Maneta and Lady May are up for possible eviction come Sunday.

The man who sewed his teenage son’s butt won’t be going to jail. 52-year-old Randy Swopes has accepted a plea deal instead. Swopes from Illinois will be put on 24-months probation and have to do 250 hours of public service. The incident took place in 2008 and his son was 14 years old at the time.

So why did he take a needle and thread to the teen? Swopes’ son suffers from Crohn’s Disease. It’s an autoimmune disorder that causes one’s own immune system to destroy healthy tissue. Those afflicted can suffer from fever and gastrointestinal tract problems. It can also result in a fistula, which is an abnormal connection between an organ and another structure. The fistula needed medical attention during the time of the offense, the report said.

Achebe, who is the David and Marianna Fisher University Professor of Africana Studies at Brown University in Providence, RI, is the author of five novels, several volumes of poetry as well as essay collections. Lawyers of the celebrated Afro-pop musician, Rebecca Acheampong, who goes by the stage name Becca, are fuming over media reports that the singer is in a love relationship with her manager, Kiki Banson of EKB Records.

The singer’s lawyers have described the publications as “laughable” and accused NEWS-ONE of being at the forefront of an alleged “orchestrated agenda to tarnish and drag the hard won reputation of this hardworking and talented musician into the mud”.

Her lead counsel, Nii Adjin Mensah Esq, has asked NEWS-ONE to retract the said publication and render an apology to the artiste. He has also threatened legal action if the requested apology and retraction were not rendered by the end of working day on Friday May 25, 2012.

Popular movie actor, Van Vicker was on Thursday, May 3, 2012, involved in an incident with law enforcement agents, leading to his detention at a Police Station in Surulere, Lagos State.

The Ghanaian actor, in company of colleague and star actress, Uche Jombo, among others, were detained at the Bode Thomas Police Station of the force during shooting of a movie within the area.

According to reports, the actors were shooting a scene of a movie which required the use of a Police Station and props, but were halted in the process by policemen from the Bode Thomas division of the force for vague reasons.
